Airdrie United 2 - 0 Ayr Utd.: McHugh at the double

Posted Sunday, April 19, 2015 by PA

Bob McHugh scored two late goals as Airdrie continued their push for the top four with a 2-0 win over Ayr.

The home side came into this clash looking to bounce back from last weekend's loss at Forfar and they struggled to create any real chances during the first half.

Ross Docherty headed wide just after the break and then Jordan Morton was denied by a parry from Ayr goalkeeper David Hutton.

And just when it looked like the game would end goalless McHugh found the bottom corner from the centre of the penalty box in the 79th minute after Scott Fraser's pass.

Fraser was the provider again in the 86th minute, allowing McHugh to head home and seal all three points and leave Ayr in real trouble and without a win in eight.
