Morecambe vs Burton Albion FC preview - Shrimps wait on Edwards

Posted Friday, April 17, 2015 by PA

Morecambe will check on defender Ryan Edwards ahead of table-topping Burton's visit to the Globe Arena.

The ex-Blackburn centre-half was forced off in the 2-1 loss to York in midweek with a back injury and will be assessed prior to the Shrimps' penultimate home fixture of the season.

Defender Alan Goodall (hamstring) missed out in midweek, as did Andrew Fleming, and the pair will be monitored again as Morecambe seek the victory they need to reach the 60-point mark.

Boss Jim Bentley is still without goalkeeper Barry Roche (hip) and midfielder Ryan Williams (hernia), who looks like he has played his last game for the club with his deal up in the summer.

Adam McGurk is a slight concern for Burton, who could seal automatic promotion in Lancashire.

McGurk had to be substituted against Carlisle on Wednesday night after suffering a cut above an eye and Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will wait to see if the forward can be included in the travelling party.

Lucas Akins and Stuart Beavon dropped down to the bench in midweek in favour of Abdenasser El Khayati and Denny Johnstone so they will be pushing for recalls, while George Taft, Kevin Stewart and Kelvin Maynard are also options for Hasselbaink.

Stefan Maletic and Mickael Antoine-Curier continue to struggle with hamstring problems for Burton, who will be promoted if they better Bury's result at Portsmouth.
