New footage has emerged of Gareth Bale being verbally abused by Real Madrid supporters following the 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Bale, who joined Madrid in an £86m move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, was targeted by fans in the early hours of Wednesday morning at their Valdebebas training base.
They were angry that he missed a one-on-one against Atletico which would have given the team a crucial away goal. Labelling his performance as lazy, they also told him to ‘run more’.
It comes a month after his car was attacked following Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals Barcelona in El Clasico.
Meanwhile, Spanish media tore into Bale’s costly miss. Marca gave him a rating of five out of ten after the game while AS awarded him just one star.
Bale is having a tough time in Spain and has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Manchester United as a result.
If he was to come to Old Trafford, there would be no doubt whatsoever that he could rely on the support of the United faithful. Look at Radamel Falcao, who is struggling on loan at the club. Fans still sing his name in the stands and are vocal in their support of him whenever he gets on the pitch.
