Dynamo Kyiv vs Fiorentina preview - No drama for Pasqual

Dynamo Kiev and Fiorentina lock horns in Ukraine on Thursday in the Europa League with the Italians desperate to put their recent domestic woes behind them.

The Viola go into the first leg of their quarter-final tie on the back of two costly losses.

Fiorentina lost 3-0 at Napoli on Sunday to drop to fifth in Serie A, a result that followed Fiorentina's home defeat to Juventus by the same scoreline five days earlier to see them eliminated from the Coppa Italia.

"It has been a difficult week," Fiorentina captain Manuel Pasqual said to the Italian press. "It's true that in our last two games we have done badly.

"But we don't want to make a drama.

"We've done great things in the past six months and we must now put our heads down, work and bounce back immediately.

"There are still important aims to play for."

Fiorentina., who are eight points adrift of Roma, who hold the last Champions League qualifying place, have shown few signs of weakness in Europe.

Vincenzo Montella's side beat Tottenham 3-1 on aggregate in the round of 32 and then won 4-1 on aggregate against Roma in the last 16.

"There is still a long way to go in the Europa League," Pasqual said. "We have to take it one game at a time."

Fiorentina are unbeaten in 11 European away games and have never lost a quarter-final in this competition.

Dynamo have failed to beat Fiorentina in their previous four meetings.

However, the Ukrainian giants have won all five of their European home games this season, including a 5-2 triumph over Everton in the previous round.

"We have a 50 per cent chance to go through," Dynamo coach Serhiy Rebrov said. "If we play like we did against Everton, nothing is impossible but it depends on us."

Rebrov's side is five points clear of Shakhtar Donetsk at the top of the Ukrainian Premier League after Sunday's 2-2 draw at home to Zorya.

Fiorentina will have to keep a close eye on Ukrainian forward Andriy Yarmolenko, who has scored four goals and set up six more in this competition.

The visitors will be without defender Jose Basanta, who is suspended.
