Reports suggest United are closing in on Ilkay Gundogan
Manchester United are reportedly close to sealing the transfer of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
The Red Devils have long been linked with both the Germany international and team-mate Mats Hummels, with it suggested the club are preparing a £50million deal for the pair.
Reports in Germany, though, claim a move for the 24-year-old is nearing completion.
Bild are saying negotiations between both United and the player are continuing, with the Premier League side preparing to better the terms Dortmund are preparing to offer Gundogan in a new contract, apparently.
Injuries suffered in the past by Gundogan are said to have hindered a move away from German before now, with Atletico Madrid understood to have retracted such interest in his services.
The player is out of contract next summer and would, therefore, be available to talk with potential suitors about a free transfer switch in January.
And with Gundogan apparently mulling over the offer of improved terms, Dortmund may be willing to cash in on the asset, with a fee of £15m mooted.
