Alloa Athletic 3 : 0 Dumbarton - Wasps sting Sons

Posted Sunday, April 12, 2015 by PA

Alloa did their Scottish Championship survival hopes the world of good with a comfortable 3-0 win over Dumbarton.

The Wasps stung their opponents with an early goal as Iain Flanningan curled in a delightful free-kick in the seventh minute.

And another fine strike doubled their lead in the 21st minute when Kevin Cawley sent a 25-yard effort arrowing into the top corner.

Archie Campbell had a chance to reduce the Sons' deficit but he dragged his shot wide with only keeper John Gibson to beat.

Dumbarton could not find a way back into the game and Alloa made sure of the points with 19 minutes remaining when Greig Spence lifted the ball into an empty net.
