SC Paderborn 07 vs Augsburg preview - Breitenreiter on the bright side

Coach Andre Breitenreiter insists he has not lost belief in his side to avoid relegation this season, even if his Paderborn team's last win was almost two months ago.

Since beating Hannover 2-1 in mid-February, Paderborn have lost five and drawn one of their last six games - but Breiteinreiter is keeping the faith ahead of Saturday's visit of Augsburg.

"I still believe in my lads," he said at a press conference. "We're currently being shown our limits, but we want to break through these together.

"All of our opponents in the Bundesliga are ahead of us when it comes to individual quality, but we can be better as a team than our direct rivals.

"But if we play hara-kiri, then we've got no chance."

Breitenreiter is without the suspended Patrick Ziegler on Saturday, but Mahir Saglik is back from injury to face the Bavarians.

Augsburg forward Nikola Djurdjic may as well be suspended, given the lack of opportunities he has had recently.

He let all of his frustration out in the Bild newspaper this week, saying: "I'm in my prime and I want to help the team, but it's not easy right now.

"I want to make the breakthrough here. I don't want to be regarded as a loser.

"It's not about money either because I could have accepted an offer from Qatar in the summer."

Since Djurdjic scored in the 2-1 win over Cologne on December 6, no Augsburg forward has scored.

In that time, even goalkeeper Marwin Hitz has found the back of the net and if the Bavarians are to keep their push for a place in Europe on track, they will be keen to see their forwards finding the back of the net again in the weeks to come - even if one of them currently finds himself on the bench.
