Former champions Al Ain continued their unbeaten run in the 2015 AFC Champions League when they drew 1-1 with Pakhtakor in a Group B match on Tuesday.
The draw ensures Zlatko Dalics side will remain in top spot in the group, on six points, one ahead of their Uzbek opponents on the night.
Jires Kembo-Ekoko gave the side from Dubai the lead after two minutes before Uzbekistan international Igor Sergeev levelled matters just before the half time break.
The visitors started the match brightly but Al Ain quickly took control of proceedings and their opener came as a result of concerted pressure on the Pakhtakor defense.
Rashed Eisa played in Kembo-Ekoko and his first time shot was too much for goalkeeper Alexander Lobanov to deal with.
The hosts looked destined to go into the half-time break level, but during first half stoppage time, Aleksandr Merzlyakov put in a dangerous cross that the Al Ain defense was unable to deal with and the Uzbek international striker made no mistake with his header.
Pakhtakor again started brightly after the interval but Lee Myung-joo had the best chance in after the interval but he could not direct his effort on target.
Omar Abdulrahman had a decent chance with a free kick in the 80th minute but his pot shot from just outside the penalty area went just wide.
The last real chance of the match again fell to Kembo-Ekoko again, six minutes from full time, but this time he could only shoot straight at Lobanov.
