Northampton Town vs Cambridge United preview - Cobblers wait on Italian

Posted Sunday, April 05, 2015 by PA

Northampton are hopeful Diego De Girolamo will return against free-falling Cambridge.

The on-loan Sheffield United forward has missed the last two matches after sustaining a thigh problem on Italy Under-20 duty.

Evan Horwood returned to the bench against AFC Wimbledon following a two-week lay-off with a hip problem and the defender could be promoted to Chris Wilder's starting line-up.

Defender Tom Newey is still struggling with an ankle problem while striker Marc Richards (Achilles) could return before the end of the season.

Ian Miller may win a recall to the Cambridge squad.

Miller was dropped for the Good Friday defeat to Bury and, with Richard Tait nursing a knee injury, Greg Taylor and Michael Nelson strengthened the defence.

Luke Chadwick and Rory Gaffney remain sidelined following operations.

Cambridge, with one win in their last 17 matches in all competitions, are just five points above the relegation zone.
