Falkirk 1 - 0 Raith Rovers: Vaulks header enough for Falkirk

Posted Sunday, April 05, 2015 by PA

Will Vaulks' header earned Falkirk their second 1-0 victory of the week as they saw off 10-man Raith.

An evenly-matched first half was coming to a close when Raith midfielder Liam Fox was dismissed for serious foul play but they could have gone ahead just three minutes after the break only for Ryan Conroy to hit the crossbar from the centre of the penalty area.

But the home side began to make their man advantage count with Blair Alston denied by David McGurn and then John Baird shooting over.

And it was no surprise when they grabbed the game's only goal in the 62nd minute, Vaulks nodding home Alston's delivery from close range for his fourth of the campaign and first since February.

The result should have been more emphatic, Craig Sibbald rattling a post with seven minutes to go.
