Leaders Stranraer welcome back Jon McShane from injury for the south-west derby against Ayr.

Striker McShane returns having missed the last three games with a knee problem, but midfielder Steven Bell is a doubt due to a calf complaint.

Manager Stephen Aitken said: "We secured a good win at Peterhead last weekend thanks to a strong second-half performance however I am looking for a strong performance against a much improved Ayr side from the first whistle.

"Ian McCall has changed Ayr around and is seeing the benefits of better performances and they have deserved more points from their last few games. We are well warned over how difficult this game will be."

On-loan Aberdeen defender Craig McKenna will return for Ayr after featuring for Scotland Under-19s last weekend.

Ryan Donnelly left the Somerset Park club this week to join junior side Hurlford United while Alan Forrest is also unavailable due to a groin strain.

Manager McCall said: "We have been playing well in recent weeks but we need to convert the chances we are creating at a far higher rate. The boys are putting everything into our games. We just need to find the net a bit more.

"Stranraer are worthy league leaders but we can go there and look to get a result."
