Guingamp vs Lyonnais preview - Grenier returns after injury

Clement Grenier is expected to make his long-awaited return in Lyon's Ligue 1 trip to Guingamp this weekend, after finally ending his groin injury saga.

The France midfielder has been dogged with a host of groin problems since last summer's World Cup, but is now ready for action this weekend.

Lyon coach Hubert Fournier has confirmed the 24-year-old should feature against Guingamp, to boost his side's title fight.

"Grenier has been training normally for the last 10 days and is feeling good," Fournier told Lyon's official website.

"If all goes well Clement (Grenier) should play this weekend: the return to action is very good news."

Gueida Fofana could also feature for Lyon after ankle trouble, while Fournier believes France stars Nabil Fekir and Alexandre Lacazette are raring to go after their international exertions.

Lacazette, tracked by a host of interested Premier League clubs, notched his first international goal in France's 2-0 win over Denmark, while Fekir earned his senior debut in the 3-1 defeat to Brazil.

"They are in fine form and raring to go, Nabil is on a high after his debut and Alex is also very happy," said Fournier.

"The fact they played well gives them ideas for the future and they know if they want to continue on the international stage they must play well for Lyon, so that's good for the whole squad."

Former Lyon star Jeremy Pied will welcome his old club to Guingamp on Saturday, expecting a fierce battle despite the visitors carrying injuries and still recovering from a shock 2-1 home defeat to Nice.

The hosts sit 10th in Ligue 1, with Pied still eyeing a climb up the table.

"They have a good pool of players so I don't think a few injuries will have an impact on their overall level of play," Pied told Guingamp's official club website.

"Each position is doubled at this kind of club.

"Both clubs are playing to finish as high as possible, and we want to build momentum quickly now, so the advantage of this type of game is that both teams want the win.

"So it should be a good show with opportunities for both sides.

"Lyon was my first club and I'll always have a special relationship there.

"But it has to be a game like any other.

"There will be a fun reunion before the game but during the match, we'll only worry about winning."
