Plymouth central defender Carl McHugh powered in a 86th-minute leveller from Bobby Reid's corner as Argyle drew 1-1 with leaders Burton.

On-loan Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart marked his Albion debut with the Brewers' 32nd-minute opening goal with a long range, deflected shot.

Stewart's 25-yard effort deflected off the boot of tackler McHugh enough to loop it over home goalkeeper Luke McCormick and in off the post.

Argyle playmaker Reid made a superb goal-line clearance to keep out Shane Cansdell-Sherriff's goal-bound 14th minute header as the leaders sought to gain an early advantage.

Plymouth responded with on-loan Everton right wing back Gethin Jones' angled drive which forced Brewers number one Jon McLaughlin to save well, low down at his near post.

In the 53rd minute Plymouth's top scorer Reuben Reid smashed a first time rising drive off the post from namesake Bobby's cross from the right.

Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink introduced Stuart Beavon for on-loan Birmingham striker Denny Johnstone while Argyle manager John Sheridan made a triple substitution in order to keep the Greens' play-off push on track.
