Manuel Pellegrini vows to splash the cash this summer as he doesn’t trust Man City youth academy

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that he will be spending heavily again this summer as he wants the best players available rather than a team loaded with academy starlets, The Sun reports.
The club have only recently spent a whopping £200m on a new training ground to help them breed the next wave of young talent, emulating the successful cantera model used by Spanish giants Barcelona.
However, the Chilean tactician has rubbished any hopes of young players looking to make their way into the first team by vowing to spend heavily on new, established talent from elsewhere instead.
"I think it is important for big teams to bring in the best players, that is the most important thing," he said.
"I think about the academy we must be patient.
"This club build all these things because young players are important.
"Maybe it is not always easy for young players especially in big teams to play in the professional squad but I am sure in the future we will have important players to come from the academy and will be part of our squad."
City have already been linked with a move for Liverpool contract rebel Raheem Sterling, and Pellegrini has stated that he would be prepared to fork out £50m to bring him to the Etihad.
The defending champions have already been given a massive boost in their pursuit of the England international after he revealed he turned down a new deal to stay at Anfield.
"The whole year at this club and maybe all the big clubs you have a lot of rumours that you want that player or another player," he added.
"The other day I said just one English player but it doesn't mean we are interested in some players.
"I will not talk about rumours. We have so many rumours about so many players coming here."
