Morecambe vs Accrington Stanley preview - Goalkeeping dilemma for Shrimps

Posted Friday, April 03, 2015 by PA

Morecambe must decide who to play as their goalkeeper for Accrington's visit to the Globe Arena.

New loan signing Danny Ward was away on international duty last weekend so Andreas Arestidou played against Exeter, but this Friday's fixture is the first time boss Jim Bentley has had both available to choose from.

Other than stopper Barry Roche (hip), Bentley has no other injury concerns, although midfielder Ryan Williams is being held back because he needs a hernia operation at some point.

Morecambe have a dismal record against their neighbours Stanley and have won none of the 16 meetings between the two in the Football League.

John Coleman has suggested he will alter Accrington's formation in a bid to snap their seven-game winless streak.

Stanley have been utilising a 3-5-2 in recent weeks but Coleman could consider changes to both that system and personnel, with Wigan loanee Ryan Jennings hoping to be included in the squad for the first time.

Midfielder Andy Procter's season has been prematurely ended by a hairline fracture of his leg while the injury-prone Adam Buxton has hurt his foot.

Goalkeeper Andrew Dawber left the Sky Bet League Two club by mutual consent this week, leaving 40-year-old Tony Warner to back up Fleetwood loanee Scott Davies.
