Parma 0 : 2 Torino - Torino take points at Parma

Torino inflicted more misery on Serie A strugglers Parma after they claimed a 2-0 win over the bankrupt club on Sunday.

Maxi Lopez and Migjen Basha scored for Torino while Parma were forced to play more than half of the match with 10 men after defender Alessandro Lucarelli was sent off in the 36th minute for a second bookable offence.

The result saw Torino move up to seventh place while Parma, whose future remains unclear, stayed rock bottom of the overall standings with just nine points.

The Ducale club, who were declared bankrupt by an Italian court on Thursday but are able to complete the season with the Italian football league providing the capital, have won just three league games this season. They lie 16 points adrift of safety.

Lopez opened the scoring for Toro in the 19th minute when his right-footed strike from a difficult angle in the left of the box found the bottom right corner. Fabio Quagliarella created the chance after a quick break upfield.

Ishak Belfodil headed over the bar for Parma just before the half hour mark before Torino had a couple of chances blocked at the other end from Quagliarella and Emiliano Moretti.

Lucarelli was sent off 10 minutes before the break to leave the hosts with a mountain to climb, but they managed to hold out for more than half an hour before conceding their second goal of the match.

Alessandro Gazzi headed wide in the 61st minute from close range before Parma had a chance at the other end when Belfodil hit the post from the middle of the box.

However, Toro did score again in the 73rd minute through Basha, whose header from close range from Cristian Molinaro's cross found the top right corner of Alessandro Iacobucci's goal.

The win put Torino seven points adrift of Napoli in fifth in the final Europa League place.
