Arsenal want to sign Callum Slattery

Arsene Wenger is considering a move to sign the latest star-to-be from Southampton's fabled academy.

According to the Daily Telegraph, 16-year-old Southampton midfielder Callum Slattery has emerged as a transfer target for the Gunners.

The teenager has starred for the Saints' academy sides this season, and has had Arsenal scouts monitoring his progress closely.

Wenger has raided the Southampton academy for top English youngsters several times before, only last summer bringing Calum Chambers to the Emirates Stadium for £16m.

The likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also made the move from Southampton to north London shortly after breaking through with the Saints.
