Getafe vs Real Sociedad preview - Moyes hoping for first away win

Real Sociedad coach David Moyes is fed up with talking about his side's "terrible" away form and is hoping they can finally break their duck when they travel to Getafe on Monday.

The Scot also believes that Sociedad's next two matches against the Azulones and Cordoba can have a huge bearing on whether the Basque side can finish in the top eight this season.

Sociedad make the trip to the capital having lost just once in five matches to climb up to 12th, but they continue to be plagued by their miserable away form that is hampering any attempts to build genuine momentum.

They are the only side in La Liga yet to win on their travels this term and only Deportivo La Coruna have managed to score fewer than Sociedad's tally of eight goals on the road.

Inevitably, Sociedad's away form was a primary area of discussion during Moyes' pre-match press conference, but the former Manchester United boss cannot wait for the time that is no longer the case.

He said: "It's very disappointing that we are talking about not winning away from home, but it will change."

If Sociedad do manage to overcome their travel sickness to beat Getafe, and follow it up with a home victory over Cordoba next weekend, then their new 36-point tally could possibly leave them level with bitter rivals Athletic Bilbao in eighth.

Finishing in the top eight would be a happy return for a side that have been largely fighting the threat of relegation this season and Moyes believes this week could be key to achieving that.

He added: "We need to try and win at Getafe. If we can win at Getafe, win at Cordoba, we can put ourselves in a strong position to try and finish eighth.

"If we don't win at Getafe and don't win at Cordoba, maybe we can't....but I do think that winning away from home; we have have to try and get it done, not be talking about it all the time. This season's been terrible, but there's other seasons which have not been much better."

Moyes has a near full-strength squad to choose from for the match against Getafe, who are one place and one point below Sociedad after a curious run of results that has seen them alternate four defeats with four 2-1 wins for the last eight rounds.

If that sequence continues then, having beaten Cordoba last time out with two late goals, they are due to lose Monday's match.

New Getafe coach Pablo Franco is hoping that will not be the case, though, saying: "Hopefully we will play better than in Cordoba. The team have shown that they will fight to the end and have belief in their chances."
