Lille OSC vs Stade Rennais FC preview - Roux hopes to 'sauce' more wins

Lille striker Nolan Roux hopes both his and the club's recent momentum continues on Sunday when they host Rennes.

Roux netted the winner in last weekend's 1-0 triumph at Guingamp, a result that made it back-to-back Ligue 1 victories for Les Dogues - they also beat leaders Lyon 2-1 - after a sequence in which they had claimed maximum points only once in six attempts.

And ahead of the Rennes match, the 27-year-old Frenchman, now with two goals in three appearances and four in the league for the season, told Lille's official website: "I'm hoping to have the same success I had against Guingamp when we now face another club from Brittany.

"If I get the chance to strike a double blow, I will not deprive myself."

On Lille's recent results, Roux added: "The great second half we had against Lyon (in which Lille fought back from a 1-0 half-time deficit) allowed us to prevail in that match and we were then well-placed to get the three points against Guingamp.

"We were able to achieve what we do best - staying strong defensively and being effective offensively.

"We must build on what we produced in our last two outings to keep moving forward.

"Let's focus on the series of games that has just started and make sure we continue it for as long as possible."

Rennes themselves have bounced back from a barren run with two successive victories, defeating Lens and Metz after going without a win in their previous 10 league fixtures.

And their coach Philippe Montanier is also eager to see no let up.

Montanier, quoted on Rennes' official website, said: "We remain focused and determined.

"We were recently caught up in the technical aspects, and these two wins should enable us to play with more freedom.

"I hope this will be the case against Lille on Sunday."

Lille are just above Rennes in mid-table, with both clubs on 38 points.
