Forfar Athletic 1 : 0 Stranraer - Forfar up to second after win

Posted Sunday, March 15, 2015 by PA

Forfar moved above opponents Stranraer and into second place in Scottish League One with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Sean Winter came close to an early opener for Stranraer as he stole in at the back post and they were not too far away again when a free-kick from Chris Aitken whistled past the upright.

Forfar grabbed the opener against the run of play when a mistake by defender Scott Robertson allowed Gavin Swankie to sweep the ball past goalkeeper David Mitchell in the 20th minute.

Robertson could have made amends at the other end but he fired wide when it looked easier to score and Forfar's Martyn Fotheringham was denied by Mitchell as the home side looked to double their advantage.
