Cowdenbeath v Hibs

Posted Sunday, March 15, 2015 by PA

Hibernian moved seven points clear of third-placed Rangers with a comfortable 2-0 win over struggling Cowdenbeath.

While they were never close to matching Edinburgh rivals Hearts' double-figure score against the same opposition last month, Alan Stubbs men had few difficulties in recording a seventh straight win in all competitions while Rangers drew with Livingston.

Two goals in three first-half minutes put Hibs in firm control, with Fraser Fyvie scoring his first goal for the club before Jason Cummings struck his third in as many games.

Fyvie opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when David Gray picked out his run and the former Wigan midfielder slotted past Robbie Thomson from the edge of the area.

The second owed much to poor defending as Colin Marshall's back pass was picked off by the lurking Cummings and he tapped into the net.

The Blue Brazil failed to mount a second-half fightback, with Kenneth Adamson firing over the bar from their best chance.
