York City 0 - 0 Carlisle: York and Carlisle share spoils
Posted Sunday, March 15, 2015 by PA
Struggling pair York and Carlisle remain on the same number of points in League Two's lower reaches after a drab 0-0 draw at Bootham Crescent.
Visiting boss Keith Curle will be more pleased, however, with a share of the spoils as Carlisle had lost five of their six previous contests.
Charlie Wyke wasted the best chance of a drab first half for Carlisle, heading straight at home keeper Bobby Olejnik from five yards after being left unmarked from Jason Kennedy's free-kick.
York's only goal attempt of the opening 45 minutes saw Josh Carson's ambitious 20-yard volley clear the crossbar.
The home side survived an early second-half scare when Steven Rigg drove across the face of goal after bursting through the left channel.
Michael Coulson went on to force Carlisle keeper Dan Hanford into a fine save from his 15-yard strike.
On 74 minutes, an incredible scramble saw Coulson and Emile Sinclair have shots cleared off the line by Sean O'Hanlon and Troy Archibald-Henville respectively, but honours ended even.
