Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to be interested in signing Newcastle United full-back Daryl Janmaat, according to the Chronicle.
The 25-year-old defender only moved to St James' Park in the summer, following an impressive World Cup campaign in Brazil with Louis van Gaal's Netherlands side, who beat the hosts in the third place play-off.
Despite Janmaat being less than one full season into his six-year deal with the Magpies (via TMW), Liverpool are set to test Newcastle's resolve and attempt to lure the former Feyenoord man to Anfield.
Liverpool's Glen Johnson to finalise Roma switch in next two days.
With it looking increasingly likely that current Reds right-back Glen Johnson will be leaving Merseyside to join Serie A outfit AS Roma in the summer when his contract expires (via TMW), Rodgers will need to replace the 30-year-old England international.
Considering the duo's reputation appear to be moving in different directions - with Janmaat's growing week by week and Johnson's dwindling - it would seem that the Northern Irish manager has identified a good replacement for his ambitious side.
However, when compared per 90 this season, the results are quite surprising as the two trade convincing wins in each field suggesting they have very different strengths and weakness, as well as playing styles.
Considering Liverpool's recently adopted 3-5-2 formation, though, Janmaat would offer more in advances areas along the right-wing, having created more chances - 21 in total this term, from which six assists have been made while also scoring one goal.
