Rotherham United vs Wigan Athletic preview - Millers wait on trio

Posted Friday, March 13, 2015 by PA

Rotherham hope to have Craig Morgan, Danny Ward and Paul Green back for their clash with Wigan.

Skipper Morgan has missed the last three games with a knee injury but has been back in training all week while Ward and Green were absent from last Saturday's win at Huddersfield with knocks.

Stand-in captain Lee Frecklington was dismissed in that game so he will serve a one-match ban, though Adam Hammill returns to contention after being ineligible against his parent club last week.

The Millers, who sent Jonson Clarke-Harris and Mat Sadler out on loan this week, will move 12 points ahead of the relegation zone with victory at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Leon Clarke faces a late fitness test before Wigan's trip to South Yorkshire.

The striker was absent for the loss to Leeds at the DW Stadium last weekend because of a minor hamstring strain and must prove his fitness as Latics look for their fourth successive away triumph.

Manager Malky Mackay has reported no other new injury or suspension concerns, but the Scot continues to be without Emyr Huws and Grant Holt, whose seasons were ended prematurely by respective ankle and knee problems.

However, Wigan did receive a boost this week with the news Harry Maguire will spend the rest of the campaign in blue and white after extending his loan from Hull.
