Marc Fitzpatrick scored his fourth goal of the season as Airdrie recorded a 1-0 victory over 10-man Ayr.
Ayr were reduced to 10 men in the 21st minute when Adam Blakeman was sent off for serious foul play.
The visitors had opportunities to break the deadlock in the opening period but could not make their numerical advantage count.
The Diamonds finally took the lead seven minutes after the restart when Fitzpatrick swept the ball past Ayr goalkeeper David Hutton from the middle of the box, and they held on to secure all three points and move up to fifth in the Scottish League One table.
