Caen 1 - 2 Bordeaux - Rolan at the double for Bordeaux

Bordeaux left it late but Diego Rolan's double was enough to give them a 2-1 win at 10-man Caen.

Lenny Nangis saw red for Caen just after the half-hour mark for a terrible tackle on Wahbi Khazri, but it took Bordeaux until the 69th minute to break them down, with Rolan coolly slotting home after linking up well with Nicolas Maurice-Belay.

Sloan Privat gave Caen hope with a quick-fire leveller three minutes later, but Rolan made no mistake from the spot in stoppage time after a handball by Dennis Appiah.

The win moved Willy Sagnol's side up to fifth and just two points behind Monaco, while Caen's recent run of good results came to an end, although they remained five points clear of the drop zone in 14th.

Khazri was key to Bordeaux's strong start, with the 24-year-old midfielder watching a free-kick go just over the bar and then teeing up a chance for Jaroslav Plasil, only for Caen keeper Remy Vercoutre to thwart him early on.

There was little sign of the performances that had made Caen the form side in the division with seven wins and a draw in their last eight games.

And things got worse for the hosts when Nangis' moment of madness saw him depart for an early bath in the 31st minute, while Khazri was left with a sore shin and a hole in his sock as a memento.

Khazri shrugged off the challenge to force a good save out of Vercoutre as the visitors started the second half well.

Isaac Thelin also brought the best out of Vercoutre with a menacing low volley in the 63rd minute but soon after Rolan finally broke the deadlock.

The Uruguayan fired past Vercoutre's near post from close range after Maurice-Belay put him through, but Privat nodded home a Thomas Lemar corner to make it 1-1 with 18 minutes remaining.

With a draw looking inevitable, Rolan showed ice-cool composure to convert the penalty and finally end a spirited Caen effort in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
