Evian Thonon Gaillard vs Monaco preview - We have to keep going - Subasic

Goalkeeper Danijel Subasic has stressed Monaco must battle on through their hectic fixtures schedule.

Leonardo Jardim's side have already reached the 40-game mark this season ahead of Saturday's Ligue 1 trip to Evian - something the head coach has been keen to highlight.

This weekend's contest is a third match in six days for a club which look well set to continue their run in the Champions League after winning their last-16 first leg 3-1 at Arsenal.

But Subasic, quoted by L'Equipe, said: "We have to keep going even if it's tough on us physically given we've played so many games."

Monaco head to Evian in fine Ligue 1 form, having lost only once in their last 11 fixtures in the competition and winning seven of those.

But they did suffer a setback on Wednesday when they were eliminated from the Coupe de France, losing 2-0 at Paris St Germain in a game for which Jardim fielded a much-changed first XI.

Thirty-year-old Croatia international Subasic - one of those to sit out Wednesday's contest - added: "I talk a lot with the young players in the squad, passing on my experiences.

"The match we lost in Paris on Wednesday was a good experience for them. But now we have to move on."

Monaco, fourth in the table, take on an Evian side also in action on Wednesday night as they extended their good recent run of Ligue 1 results.

A 1-0 win over Lorient made it three straight victories for Pascal Dupraz's men, who moved up to 16th place.

Dupraz is in optimistic mood about Evian's chances of adding another triumph at the weekend, although he is keen to learn from the last time they were on such a roll.

"You take something from the past," Dupraz said at his pre-match press conference.

"The last time we won three times, we fell asleep (losing their next four league games) - myself included, since I am responsible for the losses.

"I will look to put together a powerful team, ready to achieve, because we have not beaten a top-10 team this season."
