Stefan McCluskey's hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Stirling looks set to send Morton to the top of Scottish League One.
With leaders Stranraer struggling at Stenhousemuir, Jim Duffy's side extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a convincing victory in Tuesday's early game against the division's bottom club.
Morton had goalkeeper Derek Gaston to thank early on, with Angus Bieth and Gordon Smith seeing efforts saved.
The hosts took full advantage as McCluskey opened the scoring 10 minutes before the break, turning in Declan McManus' superb cross from the right.
Morton took full control after the interval. McCluskey made it two in the 62nd minute, slotting past Greg Paterson after being played in by Ross Caldwell.
He completed his treble in the 79th minute with a scuffed effort that bobbled just inside the post, before McManus made it four with a thumping drive from 20 yards.
