Bury beat Plymouth 2-0 at Home Park to end their League Two play-off rivals' four-match winning run.

Striker Daniel Nardiello headed in a 61st-minute opener and his 66th-minute replacement Danny Rose doubled the Shakers' tally in the final minute of normal time as he swept in from the right to clip the ball over home keeper Luke McCormick.

Nardiello, who had missed a gilt-edged opportunity in the fifth minute, atoned with a looping header to greet Nicky Adams' cross from the right and loop over McCormick.

The goal came minutes after home skipper Curtis Nelson's header bounced off the bar following Bobby Reid's corner.

Bury fired the first warning shot with Joe Riley's audacious 25-yard effort deflected just side as a defender closed him down.

Adams curled a shot just past the post from just outside the right hand side of the box in the 31st minute but came even closer to scoring a minute later, when it required a McCormick save to deny the attacking midfielder.

Argyle's response was positive with Reid's 30-yard shot finally testing Pope following a free kick.
