Ayr Utd. vs Forfar Athletic preview - Murphy makes Honest Men return

Ayr have received a boost ahead of their home match with Forfar after Peter Murphy was passed fit enough to play.

Murphy has been out for two months with a back injury, while United manager Ian McCall can also call upon David Robertson, Craig Beattie and Alan Forrest after they shrugged off knocks. Only Martin Campbell (knee) is missing.

McCall said: "It was disappointing to come home from Peterhead last weekend without anything as we did well before losing two late goals.

"We know that our home form has not been good but if we can keep showing progress then we can take something from this game."

Title-chasing Forfar welcome Gavin Malin back from suspension with the Station Park side also able to call on the fit again pair of Mark Baxter and Michael Dunlop.

Manager Dick Campbell said: "We know that we are in for a tough game down at Ayr so it is great news to be heading there with a full squad. We did really well to defeat Dunfermline last Saturday and need that level of performance to win this one as well.

"Ayr are still fighting to get away from relegation concerns so we need everyone on top of their game to get the win that keeps us right in things at the top."
