Peterhead 2 : 0 Ayr Utd. - Late goals lift Peterhead

Two second-half goals saw Peterhead record a 2-0 win at home to Ayr in Scottish League One.

David Robertson went close to opening the scoring for the visitors but his shot from inside the box was brilliantly stopped by goalkeeper Graeme Smith.

At the other end, opposite number David Hutton produced a flying one-handed save to keep out striker David Cox's header as the first half ended goalless.

Midfielder Gary McDonald broke the deadlock for Peterhead in the 79th minute when he nodded in Jordon Brown's free-kick.

The hosts made the points safe seven minutes later thanks to Andrew Rodgers' spot-kick after Nicky Devlin was penalised for a pull inside the box.
