Cowdenbeath 0 : 2 Alloa Athletic - Alloa out of drop zone with win

Posted Sunday, February 22, 2015 by PA

Goals from Mark Docherty and Kevin Cawley saw Alloa claim a 2-0 win against Cowdenbeath to move out out of the relegation zone and above their hosts in the Scottish Championship.

Cowdenbeath had a goal disallowed after 26 minutes when Kudus Oyenuga ran through to slot the ball past goalkeeper Craig McDowall but the linesman had flagged for offside.

Colin Nish fired inches past the post for Cowdenbeath shortly afterwards before Cawley missed from close in for Alloa. Cowdenbeath's Ken Adamson went off injured before the break and was replaced by Dean Brett.

Alloa created the majority of the chances in the second half.

Liam Buchanan fired just over the crossbar on the hour mark before Docherty broke the deadlock, converting Isaac Layne's pass to make it 1-0.

The clincher came from Cawley, who placed his shot into the top-right corner.
