Port Vale 3 : 0 Doncaster Rovers - Vale celebrate Donny double

Port Vale secured a comfortable 3-0 victory to complete the double over Doncaster and end the visitors' three-game winning run.

Vale came flying out of the traps and Tom Pope squandered an early chance before he created the opening goal in the sixth minute.

Pope's cross-field pass caught the Doncaster defence napping and Mark Marshall beat the advancing Stephen Bywater from 14 yards.

It needed a terrific save from Bywater to deny Marshall a second before Frederic Veseli's first Vale goal increased their advantage in the 38th minute.

The full-back back's low shot from 30 yards looked destined for Bywater's hands, but the ball slipped through his grasp and sneaked low inside the keeper's right-hand post.

Striker Curtis Main replaced winger Harry Forrester for the visitors at the interval and more firepower was introduced in the 64th minute when Uche Ikpeazu came on for Abdul Razak.

But Vale defended solidly and sealed the points three minutes from time when Byron Moore sped past Reece Wabara near the left byline and squeezed a low shot across Bywater and inside the far post.
