Nantes vs Bastia preview - Der Zakarian searching for goals

Nantes coach Michel Der Zakarian is hoping his side can address their goalscoring issues when they entertain in-form Bastia on Saturday.

Der Zakarian's side have not won in Ligue 1 since December 20 and have managed to score just a single goal in that time - with Oswaldo Vizcarrondo's late equaliser at home to Lille the only effort they have chalked up during a barren spell.

Bastia's record could not be much more in contrast to Nantes - unbeaten since early December and with a Coupe de la Ligue final against Paris St Germain on the horizon.

Four out of the last six league meetings between the two sides may have ended goalless but Der Zakarian wants to see his players break their duck and set about turning their season back around.

"We need to put in a little more consistency and commitment to find efficiency in front of goal," he said.

"Everyone is trying to do the best they possibly can but it is the wastefulness in possession and the stoppages in games which means we need to find more consistency and start asking more questions.

"I hope the fans will help us to improve ourselves, I hope they will make as much noise as they did from the beginning of the season. We need them to be great."

Ghislain Printant's Bastia won 2-0 at home to Metz last weekend following their Coupe de la Ligue semi-final penalty shoot-out success over Monaco, moving four points clear of the Ligue 1 relegation zone in the process.

But the 53-year-old expects Nantes to provide a stern test and has challenged his defence to keep their woes in front of goal ongoing.

"Nantes are certainly one of best organised teams in the league," he said.

"They can cause lots and lots of problems. Their results are not so good as they could be but their main problems are in attack and we have to try and keep them in difficulties in that department."
