Plymouth Argyle vs Cambridge United preview - Flanagan out for Argyle

Plymouth will be without Tom Flanagan when they host Cambridge.

The 23-year-old defender, signed on loan from MK Dons as a replacement for Peter Hartley, started four successive games for the Pilgrims but the return of Hartley from his hip problem has meant Flanagan has returned to his parent club.

John Sheridan could name an unchanged line-up as they look to build on their eye-catching 2-0 win at Wycombe with Charlton loanee Tareiq Holmes-Dennis set to make his Home Park debut after featuring against the Chairboys.

Argyle occupy a play-off spot on goal difference and sit nine points ahead of the U's.

Cambridge will check on Tom Elliott and Gearoid Morrissey before returning to Devon for the second time this week.

Elliott (hamstring) and Morrissey (groin) both missed the 2-2 draw at Exeter on Tuesday night and are rated 50-50 ahead of the weekend.

Rory Gaffney (ankle) has been ruled out following what U's boss Richard Money described as a "clumsy training ground challenge" with Luke Chadwick.

Midfielders Liam Hughes and Harrison Dunk remain unavailable as they continue to recover from ankle injuries.
