Chelsea 'weighing up shock transfer move' for Wolfsburg's Kevin de Bruyne
Wolfsburg may be forced to cash in on De Bruyne

Chelsea are reportedly considering a shock return for Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

De Bruyne failed to nail down a place in the Chelsea side during his two years at Stamford Bridge and was sent out on loan to Genk and Werder Bremen before Wolfsburg made his switch to the Bundesliga permanent in last year's January transfer window, for around £18m.

The Belgium international has established himself as a key player for the German outfit since the move, but Dieter Hecking's side spent big in the window to land Andre Schurrle from the Blues for a reported £22m.

The deal to sign the World Cup winner could leave Wolfsburg hamstrung in the summer due to Financial Fair Play regulations and reports in Belgium have suggested that Chelsea could return for De Bruyne.

Bayern Munich are also said to be monitoring the situation after watching De Bruyne weigh in with 11 assists and six goals for their title rivals this term.

Sporting director Klaus Allofs said: 'Kevin is still tied to 2019. But if a player develops extraordinary, it may be that we sit down together and see the conditions.'
