Mansfield Town vs Stevenage Borough preview - Blair out for Stags

Posted Friday, February 06, 2015 by PA

Matt Blair misses out for Mansfield while the Stags have doubts over the fitness of Vadaine Oliver and Matt Rhead ahead of the visit of Stevenage.

Blair was carried from the pitch on a stretcher at Carlisle last weekend and the winger will not play again this season after scans revealed cruciate knee ligament damage.

Strikers Oliver (illness) and Rhead (calf) will be assessed but midfielder Chris Clements should be fit after a bug ruled him out of the trip to Cumbria.

There will be a change in goal for Mansfield as Adam Smith has returned to Leicester following the end of his loan spell. Lenny Pidgeley looks likely to replace him after arriving on loan from Newport for the remainder of the season.

Stevenage have major fitness concerns ahead of the trip.

Striker Adam Marriott may require surgery which could potentially rule him out for the rest of the season while Tom Pett has a leg fracture.

Boss Graham Westley is also waiting to learn the extent of midfielder Chris Whelpdale's injury following scans earlier this week and Dean Parrett has a twisted ankle.

That means loan additions Danny Johnson and Bruno Andrade are likely to be pressed into action.
