Manchester United want Kevin de Bruyne on transfer deadline da
Manchester United are lining up a shock deadline day move for Chelsea flop Kevin de Bruyne.

The young Belgian arrived at Stamford Bridge with the weight of expectation on his shoulders, but he failed to live to the hype following his 2012 move from Genk and left the club two years later. He made just three Premier League appearances for Chelsea.

BUNDESLIGA IMPACT

However, he's gone on to impress over the last 12 months with Wolfsburg, and notably struck twice for the Bundesliga side in their last outing - a 4-1 win over champions Bayern Munich.

The Daily Express claims his performances have not gone unnoticed at Manchester United, and manager Louis van Gaal is preparing a big-money move to land the 23-year-old on transfer deadline day.

De Bruyne won't come cheap though, with the paper report going on to claim that the Red Devils will need to spend £30million to make the deal happen.

Van Gaal has already spent significant funds since taking the reigns at Old Trafford, with Angel di Maria, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind all arriving in the summer. Radamel Falcao also joined Manchester United on loan, with significant outlay on his weekly wages.

TOP FOUR FINISH?

The changes have helped propel Manchester United back into the top four, and they currently sit third in the Premier League after victory over Leicester at the weekend.

A couple of signings on deadline day could help the club secure Champions League football once again at Old Trafford, although such a figure will raise eyebrows among Manchester United fans following his failed stint with the Blues.

Jose Mourinho was unable to integrate the player into his Chelsea first team after returning to Stamford Bridge, and accepted an £18million offer to send the player to Germany in January 2014.

HAUNT CHELSEA

He may live to regret that decision if De Bruyne comes back to hurt the Blues at one of their rivals.
