Bordeaux vs Guingamp preview - Chantome set for Bordeaux debut

Clement Chantome could go straight into the Bordeaux side to face Guingamp on Sunday as the hosts look to end a run of five games without a Ligue 1 win.

Willy Sagnol's men have slumped in recent weeks and slipped to seventh place after extending their winless streak with a goalless draw at Bastia last weekend.

But the arrival of midfielder Chantome from Paris St Germain on Friday is set to raise spirits even if the player admits it may take time to get used to his new environment.

Chantome told France Bleu: "It was complicated to leave the club where I spent 15 years of my life but this is a turning point in my career."

Chantome was struggling for first team opportunities in Paris and spent last season on loan at Toulouse, where he made 27 appearances and scored two goals.

He added: "It is a new adventure and a great new challenge. I hope it will revive me. The club really wanted me and the coach expressed this wish to me."

Guingamp coach Jocelyn Gourvennec has left in-form striker Claudio Beauvue under no illusions about future spot-kicks after his controversial winner against Lorient last weekend.

Beauvue took his tally to four in his last three Ligue 1 games when he converted a 76th minute penalty with a deft chip which caught out Lorient keeper Banjamin Lecomte.

Gourvennec, who has Younousse Sankhare suspended after he was sent off in the same game, said: "I find that this kind of tactic involves too much risk-taking.

"I prefer a good safe penalty-kick - but then it went in the goal, so I can have nothing more to say."
