Hartlepool United FC 3 - 2 Plymouth Argyle - Franks at the double for Pools

Jonathan Franks scored twice as League Two strugglers Hartlepool picked up three vital points with a 3-2 win over Plymouth.

Franks gave Ronnie Moore's Pools side the lead in the eighth minute at Victoria Park.

Reading loanee Aaron Tshibola whipped in a cross from the left which evaded three Hartlepool players before falling to Franks, who finished from close range.

Pools were pegged back though as John Sheridan's side equalised 15 minutes before the break.

Reuben Reid flicked the ball on to Ryan Brunt and he was given far too much time and space to pick his spot from 18 yards with a low, crisp finish.

The home side's lead was restored in the 54th minute, Michael Woods cutting inside before laying the ball to Franks who guided the ball into the net for his sixth goal of the season.

In-form Scott Fenwick then made it 3-1 in the 76th minute, taking advantage of Michael Duckworth's assist following a quick break.

Argyle substitute Olly Lee did pull a goal back in the fourth minute of stoppage time, nodding home past Scott Flinders from six-yards out, but Pools held on for their fifth win of the campaign.
