Southend United 1 - 0 York City - Coulthirst wins it for Shrimpers

A last-gasp penalty from substitute Shaq Coulthirst secured Southend a narrow 1-0 win against York at Roots Hall.
The Shrimpers seemed to be heading for a fourth successive home goalless draw but Coulthirst confidently stroked home a spot-kick two minutes from time to secure Phil Brown's side a third successive win.
The result was harsh on York who had the better of the first half with Luke Summerfield having a curling effort pushed wide of the right post by Southend goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.
City skipper Russ Penn headed inches wide of the opposite post from close range before Bentley again did well to tip a low shot from Jake Hyde wide of the target.
On the stroke of half-time, another close range header from Penn was cleared off the goal-line by Southend midfielder Michael Timlin.
After the break, York were not quite as threatening and the Shrimpers almost went in front with Joe Pigott having a 12-yard shot blocked by Bobby Olejnik before Coulthirst fired home after Pigott had been fouled by Brad Halliday.
