Barcelona's Lionel Messi, left, exchanges words with PSG's Ezequiel Lavezzi
Reports suggest Liverpool are set to complete a £14million deal to bring Paris Saint Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi to Anfield.
It is claimed the deal should be completed before the transfer window closes next Monday.
The Argentinian striker has scored two goals in 15 appearances in France this season, with eight of those appearances being a starter.
The 29-year-old is rumoured to be unhappy at the French club after being punished along with Edison Cavani for his lateness returning from a mid-season break earlier in the campaign.
Liverpool have been chasing Lavezzi for some time and hopefully the reports that he is to sign for the Reds are true because Brendan Rodgers needs another striker even though Daniel Sturridge is due to return soon from injury.
Rodgers can't rely on Sturridge's fitness, and Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert have struggled to find the net when called upon.
Although Liverpool played well in the two-legged Capital One Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea and the FA Cup draw with Bolton, they lacked the cutting edge of a quality striker and Lavezzi could be the man to solve Rodgers' striking problem.
If he can do that it will go a huge way in helping them to a top four spot in the Premier League and the all important Champions League qualification.
