League Two leaders Wycombe survived a test of their promotion credentials as they escaped with a goalless draw at Mansfield.

The Stags had their visitors on the rack at times and created all the chances in an ill-tempered affair that saw eight yellow cards.

A feisty first half saw little work for either goalkeeper until Adam Smith repelled long-range efforts from Joe Jacobson and then Marcus Bean.

That woke up the hosts and Vadaine Oliver headed a Junior Brown cross against a post from a great position after 24 minutes. Five minutes later Michael Raynes' header from a corner also struck a post.

Mansfield had Wycombe on the ropes in stoppage time at the end of the first half and Matt Ingram saved at full stretch from an Oliver shot before Billy Kee saw two follow-ups blocked.

A minute later Ingram made a superb save to keep out another Raynes header as the Chairboys went into half-time relieved to be on level terms.

The Stags continued on the front foot after the break and Ricky Ravenhill fired a shot inches wide while Oliver failed to guide a side-footed effort on target when left free from a corner.

Wycombe barely had a sniff but almost won in in stoppage time as substitute Matt McClure got past Ritchie Sutton only to lift a tame finish at Smith.

It halted a run of three defeats for Mansfield while Wycombe extended their unbeaten run to 10 League Two matches.
