Manchester United have taken the lead in their attempt to lure Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford.
According to the Italian newspaper La Stampa, United have made the first official offer to Juventus in the form of a £61.25m bid.
Pogba is also being tracked by Manchester City, PSG and Real Madrid.
Pogba quit United for Juventus in 2012 when Alex Ferguson was still boss, but current manager Louis Van Gaal clearly hopes their bold move, coupled with a £7m-a-year contract for the France international, will seal the deal.
Juventus are reluctant to let Pogba leave this month and any permanent deal is unlikely to go through until the summer transfer window.
