Chievo vs Fiorentina preview - Christiansen boosts Chievo midfield

Chievo have bolstered their midfield line with the arrival of Anders Christiansen ahead of Sunday's Serie A home match against Fiorentina.

The Danish player has joined the Verona outfit from Nordsjaelland and put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

"I'm very happy to start this adventure at Chievo," the 24-year-old told his new club's official website. "I can't wait to meet my new team-mates.

"Chievo is an important team and I'm excited at the prospect of playing in a league as challenging as the Serie A is."

Christiansen is likely to watch this weekend's encounter from the Marc' Antonio Bentegodi stands b as Chievo look to clinch their first win in 2015 when Fiorentina come to town.

The Flying Donkeys were held to a 1-1 draw at Atalanta last time out to extend their unbeaten run to three games.

Rolando Maran's side have climbed to 16th place, three points clear of the drop zone.

Rivals Fiorentina will have their work cut out to break Chievo's defensive wall as the Verona outfit have conceded just three goals in their last six league games.

Fiorentina go into the contest on the back of last weekend's 4-3 triumph over Palermo, their first win in 2015.

The victory was Fiorentina's first in Florence since October 29 and lifted the Tuscan outfit to sixth place.

New signing Alessandro Diamanti is expected to feature this weekend for the first time since joining the Viola on loan from Chinese side Guangzhou earlier this month.

Fiorentina fans are hoping the arrival the of the experienced Italian playmaker will help German forward Mario Gomez end his goalscoring drought.

Gomez has scored just once in 10 Serie A appearances this season with his last goal coming on November 30.

"I need to help the team not just one player," Diamanti said. "Every player goes through a difficult time but the great champions always manage to find a way out.

"I'm sure Gomez will soon return to score."

The visitors will be without defender Stefan Savic, who is suspended.
