Metz vs Montpellier preview - Barrios committed to Montpellier

Lucas Barrios insists he is happy at Montpellier and determined to show his full potential.

The 30-year-old Paraguay striker has been linked with a move to Brazil but feels he has unfinished business in France.

Barrios joined Montpellier on a season-long loan from Spartak Moscow in the summer and, after a slow start, has begun to impress.

He scored against Rennes and Lens last month and will be looking for a third goal of the season when Ligue 1's eighth-placed side travel to struggling Metz on Saturday.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward told reporters in France: "Coming to Montpellier was my choice. I do not want to leave here without having done everything to succeed.

"I still have room for improvement. I have to continue working, but the adaptation is done now. I want to show my true colours. I'm feeling better and better on the pitch."

Montpellier go into the match on a high after last weekend's victory over Marseille, which ended a run of three matches without a win in all competitions.

They beat Metz 2-0 at home in the third week of the season, and the hosts will be desperate to reverse that this weekend as they seek points to climb up the table.

Metz have not won a league game since the start of November, picking up just two points from their last eight games.

Meanwhile, the club said goodbye to 18-year-old striker Maxwel Cornet on Friday. Cornet, who had been with Metz since the age of seven, has joined Lyon.
