Wenger has been questioned by some sections of the Gunners' support in recent seasons, with some barracking the Frenchman at a train station following last month's defeat to Stoke.

But club legend Henry - whose first match as an analyst for Sky Sports will be Arsenal's trip to Manchester City on Sunday - believes the negativity is 'out of order'.

"I thought it was a joke," he said.

"You can be upset, I totally understand that. But when I saw what happened at Stoke I was like, 'that's totally unnecessary'.

"Fans do have a voice, I totally understand that, but what I saw after the Stoke City game was out of order.

"You can express that you are upset, but to do it in that way was a bit too much.

"But in the game at the moment, unfortunately that's the way it is."

But Henry - who scored 228 goals for Arsenal - believes in £33million summer signing Alexis Sanchez that Wenger has found his new star man.

"I am trying to think if there has been a better signing in the last five or six years," he added.

"Arsenal were looking for a player who could deliver on a daily basis and they have found one.

"He sees the game brilliantly as you saw on Sunday. He doesn't need a lot of opportunities to put the ball in the net and that is very important.

"He is always going to score goals but it is his all-round game I am impressed with. That has no price. I, like any Arsenal fan, was waiting to have a player like him. Finally, we have one."
