Stoke City are ambitiously looking to step on Arsenal’s toes in the January transfer market with a £4 million bid for Ipswich Town left back Tyrone Mings, report the Mirror, with the youngster having constantly been linked with Arsene Wenger’s side throughout an impressive season so far in the second tier.

Mings has been one of the stand out performers for Mick McCarthy’s Tractor Boys in the Championship as they have launched an unlikely bid for a return to the Premier League, with his pace and physicality, as well as a dangerous cross, making him a tough customer down the left flank for Ipswich’s opponents.

Formerly of Yate Town and Chippenham Town, Mings has really rebuilt his career at Portman Road and may feel that he owes the Suffolk club six more months of service as they look to return to the top table of English football for the first time in a decade, although the lure of the Emirates Stadium could prove to be too bright.

Stoke, however, are the club who look set to test Ipswich’s resolve to keep the full back with an offer of £4m for the player, although this is some way below what Ipswich may well value such a young talent at.
