Livingston 1 - 1 Cowdenbeath : Livi stop rot
Posted Sunday, January 11, 2015 by PA
Livingston halted a run of four straight league defeats but Simon Mensing's own goal denied them a first home win since mid-September and ensured a 1-1 draw with Cowdenbeath.
Striker Daniel Mullen struck his seventh goal of the season to give Livi an early lead, but Cowdenbeath were gifted a first-half equaliser when Mensing inadvertently diverted the ball past his own goalkeeper.
Midfielder Keaghan Jacobs supplied a telling cross for Mullen to convert from the edge of the six-yard box in the fourth minute as Livi got off to a flying start.
But Cowdenbeath were back on level terms in the 26th minute following a mix-up between Mensing and goalkeeper Darren Jamieson.
Cowdenbeath striker Sean Higgins spurned a golden chance when heading inches wide just before the interval and at the other end Mullen and Kyle Jacobs both went close with fine long-range efforts.
The visitors were denied by the woodwork in the 64th minute when midfielder Declan Hughes's shot hit a post, Livi striker Jordan White headed wide and Mullen's deflected shot was tipped away by visiting goalkeeper Robbie Thomson as both sides chased the winner.
