Leyton Orient 0 - 1 Fleetwood Town : Frustrations get better of Liverani

Posted Sunday, January 11, 2015 by PA

Fleetwood celebrated their first visit to Brisbane Road with a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal by Gareth Evans before a controversial conclusion to the match saw Leyton Orient boss Fabio Liverani sent to the stands.

The visitors went ahead within 16 seconds of the second half starting when Jamie Proctor sent Evans free and the midfielder fired his 15 yard shot into the net with some aplomb.

Town had threatened to break the deadlock in the first period when Stephen Dobbie went close while home striker Chris Dagnall was denied by an excellent save from Fleetwood goalkeeper Chris Maxwell.

Town looked comfortable with their lead and it was only in the final five minutes of the match that Orient laid siege to their opponents' goal.

Orient believed they deserved a penalty when Bradley Pritchard was tripped although referee Fred Graham decided to award a free-kick.

Liverani's protests led to him being sent to the stands and the home side's frustrating afternoon was complete when substitute Kevin Lisbie missed a chance from six yards while David Mooney and Chris Dagnall also went close.
